Examining the Navigation of Higher Education Among First-Generation, Low-Income College Students
This research explores how first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students develop a sense of self and belonging within higher education. Grounded in Social Identity Theory and Intersectionality, the project investigates the lived experiences of FGLI students as they navigate institutional systems, community support, and their transition into adulthood.

Winner of the WSU Showcase for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) Gray Award, selected among 273 student projects across all WSU campuses for excellence in research proposal and presentation.
Also presented at the 2025 McNair Scholars Research Symposium, where the project earned 1st Place in the Research Proposal category during the preparatory conference.
